About Daniel

From Zero to Bestseller

Daniel Eric Finkel has written zero bestselling books. But that’s only because he’s written zero books until right… NOW! Finkel is “middle aged man giddy” to announce that this year he will be releasing the comedy/fantasy epic, “MR. TAFFLE’S PANTS OF INSANITY.” The very first person to read the first draft was Finkel’s pal Tommy who proclaimed “THIS BOOK SHOULD COME WITH AN AIRBAG AND A SAFETY WORD! IT’S ACTUALLY AMAZING!” And while this review came off a tad bit insulting to Finkel, he realized that Tommy didn’t really know the entire story of “the story.” You see Tommy didn’t know that “Mr. Taffle” had been in the making for well over 15 years. Originally titled “Stan Taffle’s Leather Pants,” it was the 11th draft of a screenplay that once sat on the desk of some big shot studio president for weeks before finally telling Finkel, “Sorry, but you need to continue to wait tables.”

Cranking out Hollywood Scripts and Hollywood Deliveries

But Finkel didn’t wait tables. He became a Hollywood delivery driver. And he co-wrote a screenplay about it, which was set to get made with legendary actress Isabella Rossellini and Academy Award nominated actor John Hawkes to star. But then DAMNIT… it didn’t. But Finkel kept cranking out scripts working with a slew of producers with credits that included Little Miss Sunshine, Bottle Rocket, 101 Dalmatians, Computer Chess, C.H.I.P.S, as well a legendary stop-animation director Corky Quakenbush (Mad TV). Finkel finally got lucky and co-wrote, with his ridiculously talented creative collaborator Brian McGuire, the feature film “Everything Will Happen Before You Die,” which Finkel also directed. It had an incredible cast that included John Hawkes and Marc Boone Junior (Sons of Anarchy). It won a bunch of awards (2) and was “bought” by Netflix.

Pioneer of the Book/Rap Tour

But what may be the most impressive thing about Finkel’s past is how he’s been a vocalist in three incredible musical bands/projects despite having very little musical talent. There was the time his band headlined a sold-out show at the Roxy for a taping of The Osbournes, the time when he rapped an entire album’s worth of songs live on LA radio station KXLU, as well as having videos filmed by acclaimed music video director Kevin Kerslake (Nirvana) and film director Chris Weitz (American Pie). He also played some poorly attended shows at several prominent strip clubs as well as multiple times at Burningman’s center camp stage.
Finkel has transformed many of his unproduced screenplays and TV pilots into tongue twisting rap songs and plans to release several songs based on “Mr. Taffle’s Pants of Insanity” to coincide with the books international release. A book/rap tour is in the works according to a Post It note stuck to Finkel’s dope ass desk.
